  1. Welcome any new members: No new members attended tonight’s meeting.
  1. Flamingo Friday Ice Cream Social – June 13: Anne provided the committee with a list of toppings and other supplies/ items which need to be obtained or brought in tomorrow.   The group reviewed this list and made decisions as to who would be responsible for obtaining various items. Ted described his ideas regarding the flow of the serving areas to the committee. We will also have four vendors at the event (Eureka, North Dale, Parks and Recreation and the Park Bugle). The committee members reviewed the schedule for the night which includes; setting up tables, scooping/serving ice cream and clean up. Ted explained plans for making this a zero waste event including recycling bags and collecting bowls/spoons/paper cups for composting.
  1. Updates:
a)    Garden Tour – June 21: The tour is next Saturday and there are twelve gardens for the tour. Ted is still looking for people to distribute maps from 9:45 to Noon. Ted reminded that the Back to the Fifties tour led to more gardens being located on the northern, eastern and southern areas of the district. Ted indicated we will need to “tweak” the recruitment of gardens for next year’s tour.
b)    Como Neighborhood Days – July 11 – July 12: Ted distributed the schedules for the event printed on “cards.” These cards will be available at tomorrow’s Ice Cream Social. There will also be an insert in the Monitor publicizing Como Neighborhood Days.
c)    St. Paul Walks Group (http://smart-trips.org/stpaulwalks): Pedestrian Safety Awareness Week – August 3 – August 10: Ted reported that St. Paul Walks is having an awareness week in August to promote pedestrian safety.
d)    Pancake Breakfast – October 25: Mary reported there was not a lot to report regarding the event. The committee agreed that July would be a good time to start the planning process for the silent auction. Ted reported the dates of the Pancake Breakfast have been confirmed with the Job Corps.
e)    Sunday Series – The committee reviewed the dates for the fall Sunday Series.
a.    St Paul Police – Julie -- September 27:
b.    St Paul Saints – Annie & Stu Thornley – October 26:
The committee talked about possible locations for these events. The committee agreed to ask Lyngblomsten about the possibility of using their site for these two events. Mary will contact the speakers for bios.
  1. Block Club Update:   Ted reported on news regarding the block clubs. The next quarterly block club meeting will be in July. National Night Out is scheduled for August 5. Ted indicated the Executive committee is asking for the organization of block clubs and block club meetings to be more “volunteer driven.”
  2. Traffic Calming – tie in with St. Paul Walks? : Ted wondered if the committee should work on educating ourselves about traffic calming. Ted proposed that this committee take an extra half-hour at each meeting about traffic calming where we can read articles and have discussions about various strategies.
  3. Community Garden: Ted reported that Rowan Glasser has volunteered to head the community garden effort.  At this time the City of St. Paul has not sent a permit for the garden.
Respectfully submitted,
Pete Bolstad
