 District 10 Como Community Council

Hello Como Neighbors!

Over the river and through the woods to grandmother’s house we go…Wishes from your District 10 Como Community Council that you and your family find things in your lives to be thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving Neighbors.

~~~~~~~
We are thankful for our neighbors who have worked hard over the year to keep Como the great neighborhood that it is.
We will have an opportunity to recognize 3 of these neighbors who have gone above and beyond the call of duty at an event in January.
Please send me an e-mail voting for your top 3 by Dec. 1.
Here is the list of nominated neighbors with a short bio.
  • Dennis and Molly O'Rourke for the years of dedicated service to the District 10 Council for leadership.
  • Sally Worku has been very active in the Como Park community for years as a volunteer, committee member; she also has attended countless community meetings.
  • Betsy Wherwein has been active in the Como Park community for several years helping to try to solve some of the parking issues that have arisen over the last 15 years or more.
  • Steve and Kathy Audette raised money for food shelves during the State Fair several years, parking cars and donating all the profits. They have been active advocates for the neighborhood in environmental concerns and in preserving the tranquility and beauty of the park neighborhood.
  • David Arbeit- Board Chair from 2007-2009 He helped stabilize the District 10 board and created a framework and process for our work plans. He held the board together and strengthened our role during a time of many volatile issues in the District.
  • Joanie and Gerald Krieger- was extremely active in the North Dale Recreation Center and passionately with the hockey rink. They both died this past year and their neighborhood activism will be missed by Como neighborhood.
  • District 10’s Events and Institution Committee – for their part in the implementation of the Como Park Shuttle. Chet Mirocha, Dennis O’Rourke, Chai Insook and Val Cunningham
  • Chris Martineau- for skillfully facilitating calmly and with fairness the very polarizing parking issue. This took excessive time and skill, more than is typically asked from a board chair.
Congratulations to all the nominees, I will let you know the results next week.
Gobble-gobble-gobble neighbors!
