Como History
The Como Park You Never Knew
What do a prison workhouse, Cozy Lake, the St. Paul City Railway, a buffalo park, the Sons of Norway, hotel fires, dogsled races, a gravel pit, a poem as lovely as a tree, the Oliver Crosby Stonebridge mansion, and Hamm’s beer have in common? They’re all part of the history of Como Park.
District 10 residents have preserved stories long forgotten and the stories behind the park’s most treasured landmarks. You can download a Como Park historical walking tour, a tour map, an audio file, and the newest addition: Timothy Gadban’s history of the park, which attracted 150 people as part of District 10’s Sunday Series.
