COMMUNITY INPUT DUE ON OR BEFORE MAY 10, 2010 – SURVEY ATTACHED:
Lexington-Larpenteur Node Plan Design ad hoc Committee requests input concerning its Report and Recommendations.

The Board of the District 10 Community Council created the Lexington Larpenteur Node Plan ad hoc committee in April, 2009. The ad hoc committee was charged to review the Lexington Larpenteur Node Plan Design Workshop, which had been commissioned by the City of St. Paul with design assistance from St. Paul on the Mississippi Design Center. There was considerable concern among community members regarding some of the proposals in the plan. The primary charge of this ad hoc committee includes gathering and communicating views consistent with those of the District 10 community.  Input from all residents is integrally important, especially those residing near the southeast and southwest corners of the Lexington-Larpenteur intersection.

During the past year, there have been “conceptual” proposals from private development firms regarding both commercial areas on the southeast and southwest corners of the Lexington-Larpenteur intersection. (The most recent proposal involves the development of a Walgreens on the current MGM site. The final conceptual site plan proposed by MGM is attached below.)

The ad hoc committee is nearing the end of its work and encourages the community to provide additional input and/or inform the Committee of any additional concerns.  The Lexington-Larpenteur Node Plan ad hoc Committee’s Report and Recommendations and supplemental documentation are attached below.

Input from the community is due by May 10, 2010. Community input will be considered by the ad hoc Committee before the recommendations are finalized and submitted to the District 10 Board at the May 18, 2010 Board meeting, which will be held at the Street Car Station at 7:00 p.m.

A FINAL AD HOC COMMITTEE MEETING IS SCHEDULED ON MAY 10, 2010 AT 7:00 P.M. AT THE STREET CAR STATION.

The meeting will be held jointly with the Land Use Committee, which will discuss MGM/Walgreens’ final conceptual site plan.  The Lexington Larpenteur Node Plan ad hoc Committee will discuss its Report and Recommendations and take note of any additional community concerns for purposes of finalizing the Report and Recommendations.  The ad hoc Committee will generate an action item to bring to the District 10 Community Council Board Meeting on May 18, 2010 for approval of the Report and Recommendations.
