 Neighborhood Safety Committee Minutes

Monday, February 9, 2009

7 pm – 8 pm

Attendance:  Marc Prokosch, Ken Kunkle, Dolores Rufenacht, Camille

Schafer, Cathy Connor-Pearson

Marc Prokosch announced that due to increased work and personal

commitments, he was resigning from the District 10 Board and

therefore, would no longer be involved with the Neighborhood Safety

Committee.

There was discussion as to whether Ken Kunke would like to take over

as chair.  He is going to look at his current commitments and think

about whether he could take on this responsibility.   There was also

discussion on recruiting to fill Marc’s Sub District 3 Board position.

Camille provided an update on efforts being made to collect

information on existing block club leaders.  Rhonda has been working

on it and next week she has an intern starting who will assist with this

project.  Dolores also reviewed the work she has been doing on block

club recruitment.

Ken suggested we provide informational flyers on Garage Break-Ins

and Garage/Alley safety to all D-10 registered garage sale participants

who could pass them out at their garage sales on May 16th.  Everyone

thought this was a good idea.

Question was asked about Saint Paul’s National Night Out kickoff event

normally held in early June.  Last year D-10 did not participate due to

transition and staff changes.  The SPPD person who organizes this

event has been out on medical leave so D-10 has not received any

information yet.

Interesting FYI learned.  Tennis shoes hung over power lines can mean

gang activity or drugs for sale at that house.
