National Night Out
Monday, July 11, 2011 11:00 AM

The 28th Annual National Night Out Celebration is set for Tuesday, August 2, 2011. National Night Out is an opportunity to get to know your neighbors and take a unified stand against crime and drugs. Block leaders across Saint Paul join in the national celebration by hosting block parties for their neighborhood. To close off your street and have a block party you will need to fill out the attached application. Only one application needs to be submitted for each block. Your block leader is usually the person who collects signatures and submits the application.

This application must be signed by at least 60% of the neighbors on your block. It must also be notarized. This can be done at most banks, but you may also contact us for the locations of local notaries. If you don't know who your block leader is, or if you don't have a block leader and would still like to have a block party, you can request more information from us at the District 10 office, district10@district10comopark.org. After you submit your application, please notify the District 10 office of your party as well. We love to keep track of how active our neighborhood is!

National Night Out is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs;
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
