Get Ready for ComoFest 2019

Other festivals may be folding, but ComoFest is back in 2019, with affordable, family friendly fun in the neighborhood almost every weekend in July. A quick rundown of the final activities:

  • Thursday July 25: North Dale Summerfest, 5-7:30 p.m., 1414 N. St. Albans. Celebrate family, friends, and neighbors. Purchases of concessions, games, inflatables, the climbing tower, and more support the North Dale Booster Club.
  • Friday July 26: Northwest Como Movie Night and Campout, 6:30 p.m. until Saturday morning, 1550 N. Hamline Ave. Pre-movie activities include dance demonstrations, a friendly kickball game, other kids' activities, and concessions. An outdoor showing of “Smallfoot” begins about 9 p.m. If it rains, the movie will move inside. A bonfire follows the movie. The night is free; camping is $5. Register for the campout

  • Saturday July 27: Community Appreciation Picnic, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., TopLine Federal Credit Union, 976 Lexington Parkway. Stop by for hot dogs, treats and games. Como Park’s “shortest marathon” begins at 1:15 p.m. Free
  • Saturday July 27: Gabe's Mini Mingle, 1-5 p.m., Gabe’s by the Park, 991 Lexington Parkway. Miniature golf, mini-donuts, a mini-beer-tasting festival, and music. On the west parking lot. Free.

Eariler i n 2019's ComoFest:

  • Friday July 12: District 10’s Ice Cream Social, 5:30-8 p.m., Como Park Streetcar Station, 1224 Lexington Parkway. Kids’ entertainment and distractions; music by the Incredible Shrinking Men from 5:30-7; Shakespeare in the Park -- "The Merry Wives of Windsor" by Classical Actors Ensemble at 7:00. Oh, yeah, and ice cream. Plus, an expanded Como Connect gives you the opportunity to connect with two dozen community organizations, find resources, figure out where to share your skills, and even learn a few things. Free.
  • Saturday July 13: ComoFest Art Fair, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., on the Promenade at Como Lakeside Pavilion,1360 Lexington Parkway. Original art, prints, photos, jewelry, fiber and clothing, paper craft, glass. Free admission. Get details

  • Saturday July 13: Como Park Pollinator Garden Tour, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wander at your own pace and admire 10 public and private gardens in the neighborhood that prove making pollinator preservation a priority doesn’t sacrifice beauty. Plus, learn how to improve your landscape for bees, butterflies and more. From private pollinator havens to a vegetable producing community garden, learn from Ramsey County Master Gardeners, WildOnes Members, and other experts the secrets that make these gardens especially attractive to our hardworking, beautiful, and buzzy neighbors.   • Friday July 19: Lyngblomsten Mid-Summer Festival, 2-8 p.m., 1415 Almond Ave. Mid-Summer Festival celebrates how Lyngblomsten is promoting artistic exploration, wellness, and lifelong learning for older adults 365 days a year. The day includes an arts showcase featuring works created by older adults; hands-on art activities for all ages; live music, dance, and theatrical performances; wellness demonstrations and activities; and food, games, and more! Admission is free; food and activities are priced for affordable fun.
