District 10 is looking for community members who want to make things better in Como Regional Park. If you’re interested, let us know by filling out this form. We expect appointments to be made Oct. 17 at the monthly Como Community Council meeting.

On the Right Path
We’re looking for multiple volunteers to join a work group that will make recommendations on how to make it easier to get around Como Park when you’re not in a vehicle. We’re hoping to build a work group of members who use the park in different ways: walkers, runners, cyclists, wheelchair users, behind strollers, etc. Members will grade the quality and usefulness of paths, signs, and other “wayfinding” tools; collect data on park users; and suggest ideas to:

  • Improve pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure and routing within the park
  • Eliminate confusion so that people know how to get from one part of the park to other destinations within the park on foot, bicycle, or other non-motorized transportation
  • Add signs, kiosks, maps, and overall wayfinding that is effective and consistent
  • Educate visitors about potential destinations on both sides of Lexington and outside of the Zoo/Conservatory campus
  • Develop a framework to add, eliminate, or consolidate paths as necessary

We anticipate this will be a nine-month project that will submit a formal report through the Como Regional Park Advisory Committee to the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.
