Neighborhood Garage Sale
The 11th Annual Neighborhood Garage Sale was held on May 19, with 71 registered sales and revenue of $710. The committee reviewed the results of a survey sent to garage sale registrants. 81% recommended continuing to hold the event in May, therefore the committee recommends that the 2013 event be held on the same weekend in May (Saturday May 18). The committee reviewed other survey responses and will formulate responses in time for the next garage sale.
The committee discussed last minute logistics for Como Fest, including staffing of District 10 tables at the Lyngblomsten Summer Festival and Art Fair.
Blank and Panod Klongtruatoke met with neighborhood resident Peter Barry to discuss his concerns about dog bite safety after his daughter was attacked by a pit bull in April. The committee will hold a public meeting on the topic at its August meeting. It was noted that committee members had received an anonymous postcard about the issue.
The committee discussed the email from Councilmember Russ Stark detailing Public Works’ conclusion that a curb bump out is the best option to calm traffic at this intersection. The committee is concerned that this solution will not solve the underlying problem and will solicit neighborhood feedback at its August meeting and determine whether next steps are required.
The committee approved a draft interview guide to be used to learn more information about other business alliances and the interest level of area businesses. Responses will be reviewed in September.
The meeting was adjourned at 8pm.
Minutes are not official until approved at August committee meeting.
