Chair Report: Kim Moon distributed an article, which he has written, summarizing recent train safety discussions. It will be posted to the D10 website and published in the printed newsletter.
Lancer/Como Town Roller Coaster: Michelle Furrer, head of the Como Park Zoo campus, and Todd Koshenina, General Manager of Como Town (Lancer), presented plans to construct a new roller coaster on the site of the old roller coaster at Como Town. It will be 25 feet longer, 10 feet wider and almost twice as high as the old roller coaster. It should be quieter than the old coaster. The new coaster has a jungle theme. Chris Harkness asked if the descent will be pointed away from the neighborhood (due to screams). It will not. Some trees will be removed and replaced. It is due to arrive by the end of April. It should be operational by the end of May.
Michelle reported that it is the 100th anniversary of the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory this year. There are a number of special activities planned for the summer and fall. There will be a new garden constructed near the Visitors Center.
The name changes for the affected streets will take effect on April 20th.
We discussed shuttle parking and signage directing people to Como Park off the freeways.
New Business: Alison reported that the State Fair will convene another meeting to discuss parking and noise issues, probably sometime in mid-April. Alison will try to get State Fair administration to attend either the May Land Use or Council meetings.
