Present: Kim Moon, Bill Sylvester, Tom Eyre, Frank Dolejsi, Linda Hinderscheit, Ryan Flynn and Ted Blank


Absent: Chris Harkness


Call to Order:  Kim Moon called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 


Adoption of Agenda: Motion to approve the agenda (Dolejsi-Eyre) Passed.


Approval of Minutes: The minutes were not sent out to the committee before tonight’s meeting, so approval of the 3/3/2014 meeting minutes was tabled until our next meeting.


Chair Report: Kim Moon reported he had no chair report tonight.


Waiver of 45-day waiting period: DSI has received an application for a liquor license upgrade for the Como Golf Course clubhouse. The license upgrade is from wine-on-sale and malt-on-sale to a liquor-on-sale license for the new management by Prom. An entertainment (B) license is added on, which is needed in order to include entertainment at weddings, etc. Entertainment shall be limited to indoors unless prior written authorization is obtained. The upgraded liquor license includes alcohol service to the 18-hole golf course. Prom is planning to operate the clubhouse year-round. They are planning to request the waiver of the 45-day waiting period, so they are able to sell alcohol when they open for the season. The City Council has the final approval on this request.

Motion: Approve sending a letter of support for the waiver of the 45-day waiting period for a new liquor license for the Como golf course (Moon-Dolejsi) Passed.


BZA Minor Variance for Residence at 1478 Sheldon Street: Ken and Jon Thoma have requested a variance of the side setback requirement in order to construct a second addition over the existing house. Ryan Kranz was present at tonight's meeting. He is a member of the family and will ultimately own the home. A side setback of 4 feet is required. The current house has a 3-foot setback. The addition would be in line with the existing house on the north side for a variance of one foot. The house is currently in very bad shape. Ryan reported that he had contacted most of the neighbors and they are very supportive of the plan to remodel the house. The BZA hearing is on April 14.

Motion: Approve a letter of support for this variance to the BZA. (Dolejsi-Eyre) Passed.


New Business: Kim reported that the community director for the March of Dimes has requested sound level variances for an event in Como Park on April 26th. One event will be at the picnic pavilion from 8:30 to 2:00. The other will be at the point parking lot from 10:00 to 12:30. The sound variance is for electronically powered equipment to not exceed 85 dB at 50 ft away from the source. (Committee members calculated this to be equivalent to 79dB at 100 feet.) Concerns were expressed about the event being held at the point because of the nearby homes. The maximum sound level allowed without a variance is 65dB at 100 ft.

Motion: Recommend approval of the requested sound variance at the picnic grounds. Recommend denial of the sound variance by the point parking lot at the lake because of the sound level requested and the proximity of homes. (Moon-Dolejsi) Passed.


Adjourn: Motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:50 p.m.
