Present: Kim Moon, Chris Harkness, Bill Sylvester, Kevin Dahm, Joao Medeiros, Frank Dolejsi, Linda Hinderscheit and Alison Kirgis

Absent: Ryan Flynn

Call to Order:  Kim Moon called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Adoption of Agenda: Motion to approve the agenda as amended (addition of the vacation of Canfield Ave. variance) Dolejsi-Harkness. Passed.

Approval of Minutes: Motion: Approve the minutes of the 3/30/2015 meeting.  (Dahm-Perna) Passed.

Chair Report: The German Immersion School has requested a sound variance from the City, but has not contacted us for support. The event is during the day on a Saturday.

Parking Variance for 801 Front Avenue: Patrick Ruble was present to represent the new owners' in their request for a parking variance for their proposed massage school. The request is for a variance for an additional 2 or 3 on-street parking spaces. The property currently has a valid variance for 8 on-street spaces. The maximum number of proposed students is 60, who would be there concurrently. Classes and clinic will be held at night and possibly on Saturday. The entire building will not be used for the school; however, there is no plan to lease out the remainder of the building. There is a good chance that there will be a bike lane put in on the south side of Front Street this summer, reducing on-street parking. There were residents from the neighborhood present at tonight’s meeting. Some spoke in favor of new businesses in the area. Some spoke in favor of the availability of low-cost massages. Many residents in the area have off-street parking.

Motion: Approve a letter of support for the requested parking variance at 801 Front Avenue (Dahm-Dolejsi) Passed.

Gabes by the Park parking: Tim Weiss, owner of Gabes by the Park, was present. The city ordinance for required parking for restaurants has changed. Fewer off-street parking spots are now required.  Gabes is not able to use overflow parking next door anymore, because the property is for sale. There is not currently a written agreement for Gabes to use their current overflow parking area. He hopes to have a written agreement for parking with the new owners. According to the new ordinance, he has sufficient off-street parking.

Variance for street vacation adjacent to fire house: The owners of the old firehouse has applied to the city to vacate the end of Canfield Avenue adjacent to 1290 Snelling. They want to buy the property and turn it into a side yard. (Canfield is a dead end at that point and does not intersect with Snelling.)

Motion: Approve a letter of support for the requested vacation of Canfield Avenue up to the sidewalk on the north side of Canfield, so the public right of way remains open (Hinderscheit-Moon) Passed.

New Business: none

Adjourn: Motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:48 p.m.

Next Meeting: The next meeting is Monday, June 6, 2015, at the Street Car Station.

Future meeting dates: 6/29, 8/3, 8/31, 10/5, 11/2 & 11/30
