The meeting was called to order at 6:00pm.  Minutes from January meeting were reviewed and changes noted.

Hamline/Nebraska Pedestrian Safety:

·         STAR grant meeting at 8:00 am on 2/13 – Ted to attend as this will be Jessie’s last day

·         D10’s application for funds for the bump outs at Hamline/Nebraska will be reviewed at this meeting.  The application has been sent to STAR committee members for review prior to meeting.

·         Walgreens opening March 11

-   Fundraising planned for Children’s hospital

-   Kim, Linda (Land Use) and Pete (NRSO) will be meeting with manager to discuss D10 and potential for sponsorship.

·         Place ads / coupons in weekly E-blasts and quarterly newsletter.  Ted to draft a rate card for review.

·         Information sessions for district councils by Diane

·         Welcome brochure update

-   Sell ads / coupons for this – Eureka recycling has a great mention already and it could be made even more prominent with a nice ad.  Plus Eureka likes to fund grass root efforts that support recycling.

-   Current electronic version In Design – Jackie is familiar with this application

·         Sunday series

-   Committee does not want any fundraising at the meeting.  Since it has been promoted as free they do not want to cause any concerns or guilt by asking for a donation at the event.

-   NRSO committee discussed how we can better approach this in future.  Stating “good will offering welcome” or similar could be a good way to promote donations without offending.

·         July 18th – 21st

·         Next planning meeting 6:30 February 26th at NW Como

-   Garden tour

-   Art crawl

·         Board meeting discussion – with Jessie’s departure what will be D10’s involvement?  Jessie has been very active in marketing as well as planning meetings.

Community Garden:

·         Three sites were investigated but only viable option is Snelling / Almond area

·         Expect an update from MnDOT within 30 days as to whether or not testing is warranted

·         District 6 has couple of areas for community garden possibilities

-   One of these is in South Como – Como / St Albans area

-   Another area near Maryland / Dale is planned for this year in D6 as well

Crime Statistics:

·         St Paul Police Depart updates

-   Mary and Jackie both signed up for email updates

·         Highest crime in area is “theft from car” in the park areas

·         Suggestion to graph the trends for distribution

·         SPPD monthly updates on morning of Board Meetings – with Jessie’s departure it would be nice to have a representative attend these meetings.

Safety Fairs:

·         Bike  fair / rodeo (update from Pete)

-   NW Como

·         April 6, 13 and 20 are available

·         Outdoor only

·         May be able to have small indoor area but not for bikes

-   North Dale

·         Dates open in April

·         Staffed from 9:00 to 1:00 on Saturdays

·         Could use gym for bikes if rain but there would be some stairs

-   Black Bear Crossings

·         April 27th open – no wedding or other event scheduled so promenade would be available if rain

·         Tent in front should be fine

·         Will donate coffee, juice and snack

·         Committee picked this choice IF promenade comes at no charge or nominal.  Pete to check

·         Laurie will do a flyer – Jessie will send her electronic version from last year

·         Bicycle Alliance did a safety tips workshop last year

·         Bicycle Chain did a station for bike checks

-   Jessie to send contact info for above two to Pete

·         Jackie to contact Pam at SPPD for Smart tips

·         Ted to check on costs for helmets

·         Ted to check with Aspen Clinic for sponsorship

·         Mary to check with Walgreens for sponsorship – donate water and/or fruit snack or similar-Jessie will send contact info
